Say Hello!
We're interested in your interest in MESH + Makeshop

Attended the Design Exchange Panel Lecture last night at the United Nations, organized by the Cooper Hewitt’s ongoing showcase, DESIGN WITH THE OTHER 90%. The show is up right now at the UN and shows how design and design ingenuity can partner with global initiatives to improve the way we live. Check out the site and see how you can get involved, especially if you are a designer! You can even join their network, and promote your own projects that are using design to improve the ways we live. Anna Rubbo, a professor at the University of Sydney, spoke on the panel, and will be one of the hosts of the Global Studio 2012 in Bhopal (which Megan will be attending – more on that soon!!) Design is changing the face of development and communication – start looking into how you can join this movement too!

Feelin’ so good seeing the billboards we designed as part of our @wvfree Fake Clinics campaign. When you need to shout your message, GO BIG. We stand with (and design for) reproductive rights and the right to be informed. Keep your eye out for more of these popping up around West Virginia 📢👁‍🗨💜 #wvfree #exposefakeclinics

Happy independence from the America we are proud to be a part of. So happy to have provided space for Black and Queer in Appalachia talk at our MESH MAKESHOP. Hosted by CAREWV Led by @affrilachiaspeaks - it was amazing to see the “voices of trans women of color move from margin to center”, as noted by a participant. Because the America we believe in is inclusive, respects and celebrates our differences, and believes in liberty and justice for all. Yes, all y’all. Sign up to host something brave and new at MAKESHOP this summer- all are welcome. #lookingatappalachia (artwork by Micah Bazant)

How can you imagine and build something great and wild and beautiful and new out of the discarded? Well, this space used to be (use to be?) an abandoned storefront full of mold and old wiring, and now it’s a place for artists and creative entrepreneurs and makers and social justice organizers to try new things. Like the already famous kick-ass @collagewv prototyping their first day long pop-up shop! Artist @jamiermillermakes turned this industrial space into what felt like a home for 6 hours on a Saturday, and sold her wares! What you feel may be impossible is in fact possible if you just take the first step and try it out. Dream big but start small. This space is a 1000 sq ft extension of MESH MAKESHOP and available FOR FREE through summer 2018 for you to try something new. Pop up a shop, host a screening or a music show, host a neighborhood talk or a maker workshop. Use the space for dance practice or coffee with your fellow knitters, or organize with your fellow social justice fighters. We got space, and we’re down for sharin. Email makeshop@meshfresh.com for info on where to start!
