MESH Design and Development is seeking a full-time junior graphic designer for our Brooklyn office. The junior graphic designer will work closely with the creative director, other team members, clients, and vendors to manage, plan, and implement print, branding, and web design work.
Design and strategy.
The junior graphic designer role requires working on a project in various roles and responsibilities, from support design work, initial concept development, to project lead on smaller projects. All design work will be made with guidance of Creative Director, Lead Developer, and other MESH team members.
Design typographic systems for web and print to support branding projects. Support on logomark making and brand strategy work. Building systems off existing brands, and establishing design direction for new brands.
Design more independently on small-scale websites with guidance of Creative Director, from customizing WordPress themes to designing simple websites. Support design of web experiences and interactions, in a range of project scales and levels of complexity.
Design print work, including typeset reports, promotional pieces, and stationary sets incorporating typography, illustration, infographics and photography. Will Support on larger print pieces, like full publications and books alongside other MESH team members.
Be attentive to client feedback, with ability to understand their larger design needs as well as follow lists of edits from feedback with detail.
Be comfortable preparing files for printer’s and developers, with an understanding of industry standard for file preparation in multiple mediums, color formats, and general best practices. Pixel perfect photoshop abilities imperative.
Visual Research support on a variety of projects.
It’s important to our culture and process that we work directly with the people that we make work with. A junior graphic designer will be expected to communicate with clients clearly, effectively, and professionally via email, phone, or in-person, both on their own smaller projects and support on other MESH team member’s projects. Our project-manager in the office is here to aid in planning, strategy, and coordination. Feeling comfortable speaking to our clients directly on multiple platforms is important.
Communication and studio work.
Strong internal communication within studio is key. Active participant and contributor to team meetings, brainstorms, critique, and collaborations. Clear and professional communication with studio network, such as photographers, vendors, and printers. As we work between multiple studios, and with various external collaborators, being able to communicate professionally and effectively via online tools, email, and phone is important to us.
